Take control of your PhD journey: Literature search for the social sciences

How to search for literature in the social sciences

When doing research in the social sciences you have a large amount of text sources to delve into, stretching from medieval manuscripts to the newest digital journals and books. To find your way through the enormous amount of resources available at the library and on the internet, we have created a course to help you do systematic searches in a selection of academic databases.

The course is designed as a workshop at one of UiT’s computer rooms, where there will be a combination of database information and practical searching. To make the course as useful as possible, we will try to adapt our approach to the current PhD projects within the social sciences at UiT. The following databases will be covered: Oria, Proquest Dissertations and Theses, Karlsruhe Virtueller Katalog, Norart, etc. In addition, we will offer individual guidance and tips for searching other, subject specific databases.

Light refreshments will be served during the break.
