HIF-3081 Fieldwork and Linguistic Description - 10 stp
Admission requirements
This course requires a bachelors degree in language and literature, or equivalent.
Course contents
This course deals with methods in fieldwork as well as related ethical dimensions. The course includes comprehensive fieldwork (in the classroom) with a language informant, and is designed to enable students to gather and analyse data from a non-Indo-European language independently and efficiently.
Objective of the course
Students should be able to show a thorough knowledge of the materials described in the course description, as well as the ability to gather and analyse language data efficiently.
Assessment
Coursework requirements:
Students are required to hand in 6 homework assignments.
Assessment method:
Term paper (7000 words)
Performance in the course will be assessed with the grades A-F.
