Generelt: kommunikasjon og samhandling, sosial endring, sosial differensiering og kategorisering, etnisitet og urfolk.
Mer spesifikt: problemstillinger knyttet til urfolk/minoritetssituasjon , menneskerettigheter, og forholdet stat-sivilt samfunn i Afrika, og spesielt San (Buskmenns) situasjon i sørlige Afrika.
Komparative perspektiver på betingelser for urfolksorganisasjoners fremvekst, virkemåte og strategier.
Gjennom mitt arbeid som koordinator på et NUFU finansiert samarbeidsprogram med University of Botswana er jeg også engasjert i mer problemorientert forskning, utdannelse som virkemiddel i empowerment for marginaliserte grupper, fattigdomsbekjempelse og rettighetsproblematikk.
